|TPS Advanced Composition (Honors) – the one writing course you need for college!|
“I didn’t have trouble like my peers did writing college essays because I took TPS Advanced Composition in high school.” — TPS Graduate
“… my daughter from your Advanced Comp class earned a 34 on her ACT in English. Thank you for the great preparation class not only for this test, but writing in all aspects of her life.” — Molly E (parent)
“All of my girls began TPS English and struggled initially. After four years of HS English, they have all excelled. One is now an English teacher…” — Janice N (parent)
“…my ACT test returned with a perfect score in English. Wow!” — Hannah M (student)
“If you want your students to learn how to write, don’t bother with other options — just send them to TPS.” — Denise R (parent)
Testimonials like these have been repeated countless times over nearly two decades. TPS has offered Advanced Composition (Honors) for almost 20 years, and it remains the flagship of the highly-regarded TPS writing program.
It is solid preparation for academic essay-writing and the SAT’s or ACT’s. In one year it fully prepares students for the AP English Language and Composition course. It is the foundation for the composition portions of the highly-regarded TPS Literature courses. It is a complete college composition course plus more, and so it fully prepares you for college writing or the College Composition CLEP.
In TPS Advanced Composition (Honors) students thoroughly study and practice 20 styles of composition, and learn to write clear concise polished essays and other writing to suit any academic or business requirement. Writing is broken down into specific skills, and those skills are worked individually and then reassembled into a stronger whole. Students learn to write clearly with structure, actively with conviction, concisely with parsimony, and even passionately with persuasion.
TPS Advanced Composition (Honors) qualifies the student for other TPS English 4/5 Literature and Composition courses, and for TPS AP Language and Composition. This is also a great course to add to a literature or “great books” discussion class outside of TPS, to strengthen your English curriculum and transcript.
