TPS adds AP Human Geography!
It has been said that “space is to geography as time is to history.” Just as we seek to understand global events from a temporal perspective, we also analyze how physical features influence human history and culture. Consider for example how the geographical features of countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, or the location of Russia and China, impact the history and culture of their people groups. This course will expose students to concepts and analytical processes for examining interactions between humans and their physical environment, and connect the study of humans and their physical surroundings to biblical perspectives on humanity and the world. Through regular writing assignments, projects, quizzes and tests students will also be prepared for the AP Human Geography exam. Perhaps most important, this course will instill a respect for the diversity other people and cultures by considering how the same basic human needs and desires have led to different adaptations in different settings.
