Learn graphic arts with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop from a professional!
This course uses Adobe Illustrator to explore design principles, focusing on the importance of layout composition and formatting by introducing the creative process of design development from roughs to comprehensives. Students will learn critical analysis of design elements, the principles of color theory as they relate to design and form; typography and the anatomy of the letterform; and imaging, layout and print production to deliver a clear message. Students will also learn effective use of Adobe Illustrator, both technically and artistically. Students will do graphics projects, peer critiques, showcase their work on-line, and have an opportunity to submit their work to Clay magazine for publication.
This course uses Adobe Photoshop to explore digital photographic production. Students will learn critical analysis of digital photographs, and the principles of color theory as they relate to photographic imaging. They will learn about image file types, and study techniques in cropping and compositioning, layers and masks, applying filters and color adjustment, photo retouching; and advanced image manipulation. Students will also learn effective technical and artistic use of Adobe Photoshop. Students will do photo projects, peer critiques, showcase their work on-line, and have an opportunity to submit their work to Clay magazine for publication.
