Start your late elementary or early middle school student on a musical journey!
This course will explore the instruments, genres, history and language of music. It is ideal for the student who is beginning his or her musical journey. Since music is a God-given gift for expression, this class will be approached creatively with the goal of instilling a love for music through gaining knowledge of and experience with music. Students will not only listen to music, but also read, perform and even write music! Major components of the course include: studying styles (such as hymns and contemporary Christian worship music, orchestral music and its instruments, as well as multi-cultural music and its instruments); developing competency and mastery in the foundational elements of music theory; understanding the characteristics of the historical periods and composers; and appreciating music as a form of art and worship.
